For my Fall 2014 collection, I imagined life on a cold space station. Maybe instead of the plastic, acrylic, polyester fibers could be replaced with wool.
I developed a few new fabrics I was really excited about. One was a “faux fur” but instead of polyester, it was made from wool that I sourced from Brown Sheep Company in Nebraska.
The heartburst pattern stuck around, but I added a new symmetrical, non-repeating pattern based on computer-generated waves.
Finally, I scaled by pyramid spike pattern way up, knitting with undyed merino wool from Sally Fox’s farm and made a cowl/neck warmer with it. The radiance pattern from 2013 came back in a similarly-sized cowl, also from Sally’s merino.
Men wanted some special pieces, and this is the first collection where I added menswear to the line. I had made plenty of hats, scarves, and sweaters for men in the past, but this is the first time they were part of the line.
A love store evolved on the space station. We also made a video.
